The Cross River State Government has received over 50,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 Vaccines to start vaccination across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state to contain the spread of the pandemic.
Speaking at the Margret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar, the Cross River State capital after receiving the vaccines from the National Cold chain store Abuja were the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, RT Honourable Eteng Jones, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu, DG Primary Health Care, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong and supervisory partners in the state.
COVID-19 vaccines
Confirming the consignments, State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Edu said that the vaccines were received in a good potent state alongside other medical accessories needed for the vaccination.
She said the administration of the vaccines to health workers will kick start immediately as they are part of the front line workers and strategic leaders including those who are able to influence others under them to take the vaccines
For the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, the security of the vaccines is guaranteed as security personnel has been deployed to the state cold store.
The DG state Primary Healthcare Agency noted that Sensitisation on the importance of the vaccines will be across communities to ensure that vaccines continue to get high demand across the eighteen local government areas of the state while also assuring for their guaranteed potency.
